Timing Analysis

During the first decade of X-ray astronomy, timing measurements provided the most important information to scientists. Direct measurements of periodic and Doppler-effected periodic variability in the X-ray intensity of sources revealed the very nature of the X-ray emitters, i.e. accreting neutron stars in binary systems.
